One of the major attractions associated with the history of Gwalior is the Suraj Kund. This water tank is located within the premises of the famous Gwalior Fort. A 15th century construction, the Suraj Kund is believed to be the sacred place where King Suraj Sen was healed of his illness by Sage Gwalipa.

Being home to the famous Gopachal Parvat, Gwalior is also known to be an important pilgrimage destination for the Jains. Featured here are 23 ancient statues of Jain Tirthankaras carved out of a single rock.
