		The ancient city of Gwalior has a rich cultural & architectural heritage which is evident through the numerous historic sites & museums that the city houses. One such significant museum is the Sarod Ghar or the Sarod Museum of Gwalior. A musical heritage museum, the Sarod Ghar is one of the most sought after tourist attractions of Gwalior.
A one-of-its-kind place in India, the museum is housed at the ancestral residence of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan & owned by the legendry Ustad Haafiz Ali Khan Memorial Trust. The museum aims at promoting the culture & heritage of Indian classical music & creating awareness amongst youth about Indian musical heritage & instruments. Sarod Ghar is home to an impressive collection of old & contemporary musical instruments that once belonged to musical maestros like Nanne Khan, Ghulam Bandagi Khan, Asghar Ali Khan & others. Also housed in the museum is a rich collection of documents & photographs of great musicians of the past. The road on which the famous Sarod Museum stands has been named after the legendry Haafiz Ali Khan, father of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. As Amjad Ali quotes it, “This is a building with Music (Sangeet), Sound (Sur) & Rhythm (Tall)”.
