The invincible Gwalior Fort houses within its premises a large number of palaces & temples. One such significant temple is the Sas Bahu Temple of Gwalior.
Though most people associate the name of the twin Sas-Bahu temple with the age-old Indian relation of Mother-in-law (Sas) & Daughter-in-law (Bahu), the actual legend suggests a different theory. |

| According to this legend, the twin temple gets its name from Lord Vishnu also known as Sahastrabahu to whom the temple is dedicated. It is believed that in the due course of time this name got misspelled or misinterpreted to Sas Bahu & continues to be called so. The twin temples are built on two pillars with one larger than the other. The larger one of these adjacently situated temples is elaborately decorated adorned with intricate carvings, beautiful sculptures & art work. The roof of this temple looks fascinating with a beautiful lotus carving. A perfect destination for the religious tourists, the ancient Sas Bahu temples display unmatched architectural exuberance & beauty. Planning a visit to these twin temples is easy with various modes of conveyance available within reach. |
